There is always the age-old argument, which is better, the book or the movie. It’s rare that the movie is better or even as good as the tome but there are some valiant examples: The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, The Outsiders, Trainspotting…you get the picture.
But there are some films that do not pass muster: The Grinch, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, any of the Michael Crichton adaptations. Now, Eat, Pray, Love, the wildly successful chick-lit book is being turned into a film starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. I can see Roberts playing the main character in all of her neurotic, semi-whiny glory. But I wonder if the film will end up being too cliche.
