Ripped, stoned, acid washed, just about anything that looks like it’s been hated and destroyed is hot in denim. Slashes at the knee are particularly popular. Ripped up 
jeans for over $100 are an oxymoron. But the same look is available for much less if you’re handy with a pair of scissors or a knife or maybe the point is not to be dexterous but to just make rips, the more ragged the better.
The pendulum has swung completely in the other direction too. Jeans that resemble trousers are widely available. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell that they are in fact jeans, they are so tailored, refined and sleek.
